Samsung Caster Leads Innovation with ‘Digital Scale Caster’

Weight-measuring wheel equipped with Bluetooth technology… Real-time patient check system with ‘smart caster’

[Medical Newspaper/Daily Newspaper=Reporter Jaewon Lee] At the ‘KIMES 2019 (International Medical Equipment & Hospital Equipment Show)’ held at COEX in Seoul from March 14 to 17, Samsung Caster will showcase its core technologies and pursue yet another new change for the development of the domestic medical industry.

The ‘Digital Scale Caster’ introduced this time is a caster that was previously used only for expensive equipment, and its advantages include a low-cost design that overcomes the limitations of its distribution rate and a simple process that makes it easy to install on a hospital bed.

The caster itself is developed by combining a load cell with the medical bed, and patient load information can be linked to the hospital CRM via Bluetooth, and it will also be available for mobile use through a smartphone application.

■ Weight measurement and management system combined with existing beds
In short, it is a weight measurement system that can be easily accessed and used by the elderly in need of nursing care, patients (ICU, artificial kidney unit) in need of weight management, and the general public. ‘Digital Scale Caster’ is a ‘smart’ caster that can be used by replacing only the wheels of an existing bed.
By incorporating ICT technology, it can be installed on a medical bed to automatically measure the patient’s weight, so that family members or medical staff can check the patient’s weight using a monitor or app (application program) even from a distance.
It is a multi-functional caster that can not only act as a scale that measures weight with just a caster, but also has a list storage function that allows you to see the weight status of a character at a glance through an indicator that manages the cells installed on the caster, and automatic calculation of weight changes during medical procedures, allowing for various management.
Meanwhile, Samsung Caster, with the sole purpose of ‘contributing to the comfort of mankind with the convenience of a circle that moves the world’, is working with Naver Labs (LABS) to develop an electric medical cart based on the mass production of ‘Air Cart’ in line with the 4th industrial revolution, and plans to continue to contribute to the development of the medical device industry through continuous technological development in the future.
